Leadership

Creating a solid foundation of purpose for your family tree by consistently growing your ability to lead.

To deepen the "root" of Leadership, you'll need lots of water and some good quality dirt --

Digging for knowledge,
Inspecting, for personal application,
Removing all obstacles to growth, and
Training for impact.

Step One -- Dig for Knowledge

Grab your shovel (journal) and learn everything you can about the topic of leadership. Make an effort to learn something new every day and be sure to write it down -- if you don't it will disappear!

Step Two -- Inspect for Application

On a regular basis pull out your journal and look through the leadership information you've gathered --

Begin to intentionally try and find ways to apply it to your personal growth. At this point, don't worry about how it applies to your family, that comes later.

Here are some questions to get you started --
  • What do I believe?
  • What's working for me?
  • What's missing?
  • What skills are needed?
  • How could I improve my leadership?
  • What actions could I take to move forward?
  • How can this improve my marriage?
  • How can this improve my parenting?
  • Who do I know that is successful in this?
  • Who do I know that will support this in my life?
  • How will this improve my health?
  • How could this increase my financial resources?
  • What is the big picture?
  • What are the possibilities if I improve?
  • What will I have to give up to improve?
  • What does God say about this?
  • How can being physically fit effect this?
  • How do emotions effect this?
  • How does this impact my relationships?
  • How could I change my thinking to improve this?
  • How would improving this area effect my career?

Step Three -- Remove Obstacles to Growth

As you begin to take specific action to grow your ability to influence, you'll begin to discover people, places, and things that are blocking your success.

Sometimes these "obstacles" are good people, places, or things, which can make this step confusing and difficult at times,

........always remember that the end goal is to create a strong family that will stand the test of time and eventually reproduce itself

-- anything that hinders movement towards that end must be removed.

Step Four -- Train for Impact

This is where the family tree really begins to grow.

You've discovered the deeper truths of personal growth.

You've started taking consistent daily action towards applying those truths to your life and experience,

You've gone through the sometimes painful process of removing anything from your life (good and bad) that is blocking your success,

.........now begin to teach this process to your family. The impact will amaze you!
